What Is Football
America is a melting pot of cultures. All these cultures are blended together and given a twist that makes it uniquely American.
One example of this could be American football which is a mix of rugby and soccer with some changes. American football is beloved all over the country because of the pride it can bring people, the traditions that come from it, and the fact that it can bring people together. In American Football the goal is to get the ball past the other team to the end zone. This results in the scoring team receiving six points and the chance to gain an extra point by kicking the ball in between the goal posts. Football is not as fast paced as sports it derives from.
Instead, it is a play by play sport. Everything is much more thought out and the sport uses a lot more tactics. Another difference between American Football and its influences is that when a team goes on defense in football a different group of people go onto the field than were already on.Each team consists of two main groups of eleven players. One group being defensive players whose purpose is to stop the other team from advancing and gaining points. And the other group being offense whose purpose is to get the ball past the other team and score points.
The team that scores the most points in four equal quarters. American football is one of the most popular sports in the world. People all over the world tune in every week to watch the intense battle that ensues between two rival teams. Football all started in the years following the civil war. It became more and more popular across the country due to the fact that it was a mix of two of the most popular sports at the time together.
This meant that it was relatively easy for people to pick up. The popularity of the sport in recent years has just kept going up. It has become a staple in American culture. The championship game for the National Football league is called the Super bowl and it has become somewhat of a holiday in America. The superbowl is the matchup between the two best teams of that year.
This is the most watched game of the year and people wait all year to watch it. Everyone wants their team to win the superbowl. It allows them to say that their team won because it means that they are the best team. This gives people a lot of pride in their team. It also touches on the humankind’s desire for violence. Violence is something that humans, for whatever reason, is something people get a lot of enjoyment out of.
In Football to stop the other team from scoring you have to tackle the player with the ball. This often is done by brutal hits that cause severe injuries. To help prevent these injuries there are rules and regulations that are put in place. There are a lot of rules and regulations in American Football. These rules are put on lace to keep the game fair so no one gets an advantage on someone else and to protect the players, these rules are constantly changing.
One recent example of this would be that you can’t grab an offensive blocker below the waist. This is to prevent any leg injuries and promote a proper way of blocking that is effective yet safe. Sometimes these rules can be annoying, but they are there for a reason. To enforce these rules there are refs. The referee’s main job is to make sure that everything is done right so everyone can stay safe. If a player breaks a rule they get a flag.
This means their team will be punished with either a loss of yards or the player being kicked out of the game. There are varying levels of severity when it comes to getting a flag. Actions that cause players to get ejected are such things as fighting with another player. Many people would consider football as America’s sport. It has come a long way from where it started.
It’s changed so much overtime but yet has stayed the same. Its America’s sport and will be for years to come. It inspires people’s dreams and provides entertainment for millions.
