Short Essay on Patrick Henry

Patrick Henry throughout his speech persuaded the americans to believe again, and to have a new hope planted within one another through his amazing amount of patriotism. Henry appeals to the audience through using his rhetoric device pathos. He choose to use the emotions of the Americans in meaning of provoking a response to further inspire the community as a whole to fight back against Great Britain. Henry starts the speech willing to agree to disagree with fellow american colonists with opposed opinions to fighting back against great britain. He states, “I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as i do, opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely, and without reserve. This excerpt from his speech is showing how he has total respect for those not willing to fight back, but he stands by his belief of fighting for what you believe.

Fighting for peace is the americans last strand of hope for total liberty and equal justice. Americans had realized that if they wish to succeed liberty then they must fight, and fight hard. Throughout the whole speech henry makes all his points, and further elaborates his beliefs from drawing illusions of hope during the troubled times. Patrick Henry says,”it is natural for man to indulge in the illusions of hope.” This new hope driven from Henry as a leader of patriotism for America excites the colonists and citizens that there will be a chance for regaining their liberty.

Patrick Henry develops why he thinks fighting for peace in the new world is the best option. Towards the end of his speech he declares, “We have pledged ourselves to never abandon until the glorious object of our contest shall be obtained, we must fight! I repeat, sir, we must fight! By laying down the truth, and by driving motivation Henry willing gains trust from the american citizens, and sparks a fire amongst them to fight against the mother country of Great Britain. Henry finished his motivational speech with, “give me liberty or give me death.” The americans are willing to stop at nothing for total gained liberty and freedom from England thanks to Patrick Henry’s spark of hope.
