Pepkor Retail Limited Implementing Additional JDA Portfolio

Discount Apparel Retailer Adds JDA Strategic Demand Management Applications to Support Integration of Planning, Replenishment and Store Merchandising Activities.

June 2006 – JDA® Software Group announced that Pepkor Retail Limited, a subsidiary in the Pepkor group of companies, is implementing additional JDA Portfolio® applications to support its 1,100 PEP discount apparel locations. By deploying Portfolio Replenishment Optimization by E3® (PRO) on the PortfolioEnabled® framework and Portfolio Category Management by Intactix® software, Pepkor expects to reduce the high level of safety stock across the business and improve stock turns by improving the process of matching stock levels to customer demand.

“Our goal is to ensure the best possible inventory levels are maintained throughout our supply chain,” said Corne Klem, PEP Planning and Distribution director. “JDA’s replenishment and category management applications will enable us to automate the synchronization of all decisions and processes around forecasting, planning, promoting and ordering. We will be able to distribute merchandise to our stores and merchandise our shelves with more precision than we do today.”

Pepkor Retail Limited Case Study

“Pepkor is among the growing number of companies licensing applications within our Strategic Demand Management solution. Retailers from around the globe, including South Africa’s Pepkor, are combining proven JDA Portfolio applications with our next generation products to solve their demand chain challenges and deliver real results for their business,” stated Arnaud Decarsin, JDA’s managing director of Europe, Middle East and Africa.

PRO Critical to Pepkor’s Success

Corne Klem said that positive feedback from existing JDA replenishment customers influenced Pepkor to license the PRO software in the third quarter of 2005. Pepkor now looks forward to taking advantage of the planning and
replenishment integration that PRO provides.

“By implementing PRO, we believe that we can get the best of both planning and replenishment from one solution,” Klem said. “PRO’s architecture based on Microsoft .NET technology offers scalability and an agile framework that

can support our complex demand chain environment.”

Pepkor, which also controls retail brands Ackermans, Dunns and Shoe City in South Africa as well as Best & Less in Australia, is an existing JDA customer using Arthur Knowledge Base™, Advanced Planning by Arthur®,
Performance Analysis Web by Arthur®, to support its PEP stores.
