Organ on a Chip

Body Parts on a Chip video from Ted.com I thought it was really cool! It was amazing how they could mimic the organs like that on a tiny computer chip. I had a few questions, though. How long did it take to build a chip like that? A problem would be is it more expensive than animal testing? Since the chip is supposed to replace animal testing by mimicking a human organ, I figure it’s quite expensive to make. Another thing is, if someone needed a lung transplant and no organs were available for the patient, would the trip be eligible to act as a really lung in that patient? Could it still mimic an organ the same way inside a human body? The whole thing was very intriguing.

Those people are extremely intelligently gifted to be able to do that experiment and have it succeed.
