These two viewpoints have potential for being acceptable.
Both ways have contributed to the environmental cleanliness. The government provides regulations and enforcements that people must follow irrespective of their wealth state. On the other hand, it is easier for people who are rich to follow such regulations for the can get necessities that are environment friendly with ease, albeit their high prices. Having regulations will help reinstating the state of clean air easily that turning on the people who are rich. We need to know that there are forms of keeping air clean that are affordable to all.
Again, regulations restrain people to practices that will ensure they are keeping the air clean. Those people who are wealthy may use their money to make sure that where they are living have clean air, leaving behind those who do not have the money. Regulations on the other hand will make sure that all people are having access to clean air. The government has put in place regulations that have helped reduce acid rain by using fuels that have no sulphur components. It has also controlled depletion of the ozone layer by making sure that chlorofluorocarbons are not used. Lastly, it has put in place the act of “Best Available Control Technology (BACT)” (Legislation, par 13) which has the aim of making sure that factories and whichever plants produce zero level of toxic air to the atmosphere.
Nongovernmental institutions on the other hand have gone public with campaigns to have clean air and they re the ones that have caused the senate to pass such laws that have controlled air pollution.Different groups have different views on how the environment should be conserved. From the mission statement of various organizations, we find the following ways being highly embraced. Empowering communities economically, recognizing that the fastest way of reaching satisfaction in air pollution control is people having the money for acquiring systems that will help in environmental preservation. They also see the need of awareness.
This is by providing necessary education for the people to conserve the environment. They also see the need for making use of all groups in the society to see the need of environmental conservation. They therefore, bring together religious leaders, politicians, professionals from different fields eng lawyers. The last thing that has a striking value is having the law that clearly protects the environment. The first thing is empowering communities economically.
The organizations that embrace this strategy are FREE, PERC, and EDF- Environmental Defense Fund. There are those that use the strategy of public awareness, through educating people on environmental issues. Their policy is therefore making people know their responsibility. These are FREE, NRDC – Natural Resource Defense Council, EPA, and EDF- Environmental Defense Fund. There are those that see that the best thing is to incorporate their policies into the Law.
These are EDF- Environmental Defense Fund and FREE. Mosst of them are also focused on research that will help get alternative means of acquiring necessities to those that have the potential to harm the environment. Some of the approaches are coming up with laws and policies that the have forwarded to the senate to be incorporated into law to protect the environment (Getting the Law Right, par 3). This method has helped to reduce the environmental pollution by a big percentage. The other way is empowering communities economically (Environmental Economics, par 2). This would help them improve on their environmental living standards.
This ways are the most effective in improving the conservation of the environment. The sources are reliable because they have invested a lot in research. They people concerned have proved that what they are doing can bear fruit. One can therefore count on them. The bias may only appear from the point that some are not embracing a balance between either of the two main methods, which are using legislature, and economic empowerment. Both methods are very important.
Other than internet and journals, we can study books that have been written on the broader topic of air pollution and environmental conservation. These are books such as Advances in air pollution modeling for environmental security by Farago Istvan, et al, Environmental conservation by Dasmann R. Fredric and Environmental Engineers’ Handbook: Air pollution by Liptak G. Bela.
