Annie was able to teach Helen trust, obedience and language to overcome her obstacle. Like Helen Keller I also had to overcome an obstacle. When I was in second grade I broke my arm. To overcome my obstacle I went to the hospital, where the doctors put pins in my arm to keep the bones in place and put my arm in a cast. After about six weeks I got my cast off and did a lot of physicaltherapy, but know my arm is good as new. Although our obstacles were different we shared a few similarities.

Helen being deaf and blind kept her from communicating, much like when I broke my arm I could not write or do anything amusing. Helen learned to communicate by never giving up even when she couldn’t understand. After my cast was removed I had to go through a lotof therapy which hurt and was not very enjoyable, but if I wouldn’t have stuck with it I might not have full movement of my arm. Much like Helen Keller overcame the obstacle of not being able to communicate, I too overcame the obstacle of breaking my arm. Helen’s experience taught me to never give up and that when I think I have things hard others have it worse.

I learned how to be patient, because it seemed like forever untilmy cast was removed, but in the end I am happy I waited. ” We can do anything we want to do if we stick to it long enough” stated Helen Keller (Keller). Works Cited Keller, Helen. “Famous Quotes.” BrainyQuote. Xplore.
