If I want to become successful in my life, I need to be well prepared. Before starting my graduate study I have set certain goals for my life that will set me on the route to success. These goals will take me through life and let me live the kind of life I have dreamed about. I have set some personal goal and professional goals. Personal Goal i. Optimize my time more- I have noticed that I am not a morning person, and there are many occasions where I could better use my time.

ii.Be a better example for my kids– I want to provide my kids better education and future. One day they will know how education is important. I always say to them “education is wealth and nobody can steal it” from you. Even though my kids are little but one day they will understand.

iii. Staying Healthy- My family and I are vegetarian. I have to cook three meals a day for my family. My goal is to provide healthy nutritious food to my family instead buy something frozen section. * Professional goals i.

Obtain my graduate degree- My main goal to achieve my graduation degree so I can take my step forward. i. Acquire a superior job so I might better provide for my family- After I obtain my degree, my next priority would be to obtain a good job, preferably as an executive director at a health care facility. Reason for pursuing graduate studies I have three main reasons to pursuing my graduate study. First, I am a CNA in assisted living but I wanted to be a RN. The main problem was I have to go to campus but with family and overnight job it was very hard for me to start my study.

I passed two years. In between we bought a new house. After that I was facing new challenges examples mortgage, other new bills. At the same time I was thinking to boost my career because in CNA job too much input and output is less. I had become so complacent doing the same thing every day that the thought of going back to college was unthinkable, I was wanted to do something different. Then I thought if I cannot go to campus at least I can start my study my online.

Now the other problem was which degree I should start. I checked lots of universities for what they are offering. I wanted to stay in health care field. My sister started her in Phoenix University she told me that she likes to do her study online and it is very convenient way. Next day, I came upon UOPX’s website; I thought I should check what kind of Master’s degree they are offering. I filled a form out and next day someone called from university of phoenix.

Things happen so fast, I enrolled in the Master of Health Administration (MHA). My second reason I wanted to do something for community and without my graduation study I am not able to do anything except volunteer. Without professional level study I am not able to take step forward.Third reason I wanted to be an example for my kids so they will how study is important in their life. My Short Term Goal My short term goal is to take some other classes that could help improve my English reading and writing skills. * My Long Term Goal * My long term goal is to pay my student loan.

To pay my student loan I need a highly paid job so I can pay off my loan. * Three challenges in meeting my goals i. Once I was reading in the magazine graduate students do feel a great amount of pressure and stress. Now I am feeling with same way, my first challenge is time management.I want to utilize my time wisely so I can divide my time for study, family and my job.

ii. It is very challenging to raise a family while you are study and job. Family has specific needs. My kids will need my full attention. iii.

Many people drop school after a while, and I don’t want to fall into the trap of quitting or dropping out part with into my studies. * Strategies to overcome these challenges i. I seek help when I need it. I find that I need a lot of help because of my language problems, but I am finding a lot of help from my family, which I appreciate a lot. i.

Stop doing thing at the last minute. This will relieve stress and help me manage my time better. iii. I do meditation and spend time with my kids. If I can find time to spend with my kids, they won’t feel like I’m putting them second to my studies.

iv. Keep myself motivated and never give up. If I get into the mindset of giving up, then I might want to quit. v. Make an action plan on how to study around my work.

This will help my schedule my time better. i. Whenever I am stressed I do painting. This acts as a stress reliever. Milestones or definable steps in achieving the short-term and long-term goals * For my short term goal my definable steps are I will take some academic level reading and writing to improve it.

For my long term goal I will make a payment plan so I can pay my loan in 5 or 10 years. * An analysis of your personal communication strengths and weaknesses * I am very dedicated to my work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. I always provide the utmost attention and provide the best care I can possibly provide for the people I serve. I’m always on time when it comes to my work, and I am never lazy on the job.My time management outside of work tends to lack organization.

The main obstacle I face though is the fact that English is my second language. This tends to cause me to sometimes not be able to fully express my ideas in a quick amount of time. I have to take a longer amount of time to think of how to say a certain idea. * Three strategies for improving methods of communication * I am planning to take few workshops on grammar and essay writing through University if Phoenix. I also started reading books.

I started writing small essays and getting it checked from one of my friend who is a teacher at high school. Conclusion I am working towards my graduation degree. But it needs a lot of commitment. I have few long term and short term goals which I need to achieve. I have many challenges to overcome.

The strategy I have created will help me overcome all the challenges. References Pausch, R. (2011). Time management. Retrieved from http://www. randypausch.
