During the Berlin Airlift aircrews from the United States Air Force flew over 200,000 flights in one year to provide food and fuel for the West Berliners. The U.S. Air Force were not the only ones flying in supplies for the West Berliners. The other countries that helped in supplying West Berlin with necessities were the British Royal Air Force, the Royal Canadian Air Force, the Royal Australian Air Force, the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and the South African Air Force.

Them along with the United States in total got almost 9,000 tons of food to the West Berliners. The Soviets did not disrupt the airlift for fear this might lead to open conflict. By the spring of 1949, the airlift was clearly succeeding, and by April it was delivering more cargo than had previously been transported into the city by rail. On 12 May 1949, the USSR lifted the blockade of West Berlin. The Berlin Blockade served to highlight the competing ideological and economic visions for postwar Europe.

The Vietnam War was also an important war because it was a war that so many americans at the time were against and this was a major loss to america. It was also the first televised war. They all believed the soldiers were horrible people that deserved nothing but to be spit on and treated like dirt. These soldiers went through so much on the battlefield and when they thought they would be welcomed home with open arms; they were shunned and abused verbally and physically. The reason they were treated so badly was because the media depicted them as “baby killers”, “murderers”, and “criminals”. When these soldiers thought they were doing good and serving their country most of america was looking at them like they were the ones in the wrong for going out and doing their jobs.

The Korean War was another important war because the United States won but also lost. I say they lost because the whole country was not saved. There are still so many that are oppressed and in fear of their government in North Korea. On the bright side of things; literally South Korea is always lit up like a christmas tree 24/7 while North Korea is the opposite of that in complete darkness. South Koreans nowadays in their pastime rent karaoke lounges for them and their friends to relieve stress also to have fun.

Another thing that many people is go to live gaming events. Going to gaming events as a couple is like going to the movies for many people in South Korea. Although it may not seem like much; to much of South Korea watching people play video games is just as exciting as watching a baseball game. Now back to the more serious part of this essay. In 1910 Japan had control over Korea until the end of World War II, but by 1948 two separate governments had been established. They both claimed to be the legitimate government of Korea, and neither side accepted the border as permanent.

The conflict turned into open warfare when North Korean forces—supported by the Soviet Union and China—invaded South Korea on June 25th 1950. In the beginning the United Nations Security Council recognized this North Korean act as invasion and called for an immediate ceasefire. North Korea didn’t accept the ceasefire causing the war to begin. After the first two months of the conflict, South Korean forces were on the point of defeat, forced back to the Pusan Perimeter. In September 1950, an amphibious UN counter-offensive was launched at Inchon, and cut off many of the North Korean attackers.

Those that escaped envelopment and capture were rapidly forced back north all the way to the border with China at the Yalu River, or into the mountainous interior. The fighting ended on 27 July 1953, when an armistice was signed. The agreement created the Korean Demilitarized Zone to separate North and South Korea, and allowed the return of prisoners. However, no peace treaty has been signed, and the two Koreas are technically still at war. Periodic clashes, many of which were deadly, have continued to the present. In conclusion all I have to say is the United States of America has won wars and lost wars but throughout all the wars America was never the one trying to start a war.

America always looked to stop the wars and end conflict. Sometime it worked sometimes it failed but no the less America was never the bad guy in any war. I believe America will never be the bad guys. America will only be the heroes and protectors of the innocent.
