In ICAO 2009 I have found the following information regarding or related to airport and the first one is regarding fuel factor where the aviation industry was being faced with serious threat in 2008 volatile fuel prices.
ICAO begun to implement to reduce the assault on airline and air transport viability. In the year 2008 according to IATA the airline was expected to turn a profit of$5.6 billion since 2000.The thing that is driving the figures down is higher fuel costs in the same year the industry was expected to make $7.8 billion in profits which was based on oil at $75 a barrel.
Currently oil is now around $ 100 a barrel. Also in another journal ICAO is looking forward to efficiency where by it has plans to attract the best and the brightest. So it has teamed up with industrial and education stakeholders to form the next generation aviation professionals initiatives. This is to respond or to help in the project industry which has a shortage of over 200,000 pilots and 400,000 maintenance employees. They intend to have them by the year 2018.
Also in planetary priorities Icao and aviation stakeholders weigh on sustainable air transport future. The journal presents ideas for and interest in addressing global climate this has been shown by improvising of a global carbon footprint database. On 21st December 2009 ICAO announced its intentions to persue plans of reduction of aviation emissions although there was a disagreements about banker fuels at the Copenhagen climate change conference. In the 2008 ICAO journal Airport evolution is the priority as technology forges new tools to help 21st centuary to meet emerging environment and capacity challenges. There is effort to emphasise efficiency and environmental solutions.Efficiency is also part airport evolution.
This is shown by automatic dependent surveillance broadcast which has shown efficiency benefits on environmental basis. Also implementing by giving priorities to procurement.Aviation and the Environment. Though its CO2 and NOx impact is less than those of other industries and transport sectors, aviation continues to take bold steps toward aggressive targets as its global stakeholders confront the technological and leadership challenges of climate change. This is has led to the icao carbon calculator used to identify the amount of carbon dioxide emmissions from a flight. The calculator has helped people and organisations to become part of the solution and not part of the problem.Delegates to the Conference on the Economics of Airports and Air Navigation Services craft an extraordinary compromise unifying airport, airline and ANSP stakeholders within a new and more inclusive global framework.
