Felix Baumgartner
This 43 year old man did what no other person would think of doing. Felix Baumgartner, ( or his nickname Fearless Felix) an Austrian sky diver, set a world record for skydiving 24 miles to the earth’s surface. Exceeding speeds of 834 miles per hour.
His jump was made on Oct. 14, 2012. He is a renowned Austrian dare devil for his dangerous jumps. In 1999, he set a world record for the highest parachute jump off a building. The building was the Petronas Towers, in Kuala Lumpur. But the stratus jump was the most dangerous jump of his career.
His jump was sponsored by Red Bull. Also Alban Geissler, who made SKYRAY, suggested that Felix use carbon fiber wings for his jump. On July 2010, it was announced that he would be working with Red Bull on his project. On march 15, 2012, he made his first practice jump of 71,581 feet, reaching speeds of 360 MPH.
, and lasted for 3 minutes and 43 seconds. His second jump was on July 25, 2012, falling from 96,640 feet. I think this man has bravery, for his amazing jump. But I wonder if anybody will ever try to beat his record. Will they try to go faster, or higher? We will only know as time progresses.
