Ranking in the military determines the extent to which someone is placed in a given military troupe. In the military the main responsibilities of a leader are accomplishing the mission as well as the welfare of the soldiers. By entering into an oath, the army leaders commit themselves to their subordinates. The most influential and fundamental technique used in the military is the command chain. This is the sequence of organizational commanders having a dirct authority and responsibility.

They do this in order to accomplish the missions assigned. A military leader, therefore, has various duties that are assigned by the state. These are loyalty to the nation, military as well as to the specific military unit they belong. Military leadership is the same as any other civilian leadership. However, there is one basic and most salient aspect that is added to military leadership. This feature is discipline.

Military leaders aim at earning respect from their followers. This discipline occurs through the respect for the higher ranking authority and respect for the orders.Positive Psychology and Resilience Training Positive psychology refers to the study of human thriving in the past; psychology is aimed at people with disabilities and other problems that were psychological. However, positive psychology examines the way ordinary people become happy and fulfill their desires. Positive psychologists have, therefore, initiated resilience programs that are aimed at training the soldiers to gain fitness for duty.

This program is a part and parcel of soldier’s fitness. It enhances the soldier’s mind and mental thinking and focuses on five principle dimensions of strength. These are emotiional, social, spiritual, family and physical (Lam, 2007). The program helps soldiers to overcome the problems they face in and out of war. Fundamentally, being employed in the military requires the ability to deal with dangerous and risky situations effectively. These could be the war zone or relief situation after disaster.

Advantages and Disadvantages of Resilience TrainingThe soldiers’ coping abilities are strengthened. This means that the soldier’s ability to cope with risky situations has been strengthened. By so doing, the competence of the entire military is increased. The training also helps individual soldiers to control their emotions and thoughts so as to better control others in the workplace environment. Resilient performance results from this resilience training.

However, just like any other program, resilience training has various drawbacks. It calls for extra time and requires exceptionally clear attention that is aimed at attaining the set goals of the program. This could affect other military programs. However, the program can be incorporated in the normal military training, but I could alter the period required for the military training and study.
