Professional Organization Meeting

Professionally-run nursing organizations offer nurses a chance to enhance their competency in the nursing profession. This is achieved through both collaboration and teamwork efforts which seek to promote patient centered care.

It should be noted that each specialty in the profession has its organization. The need to share education is among the main reasons why meetings are held. Organizations are also critical since they offer information on the profession in addition to facilitating the acquisition of licenses by practicing nurses. The preference for the evidence based approaches to education guarantees the best results for both practicing and upcoming nurses. Nurses also join such organizations based on the promise that they would get the opportunity to network amongst themselves. Specifically, it permits nurses from one hospital to connect with those from other hospitals.

The Zoll Medical Corporation The Zoll Medical Corporation is a leader in the provision of medical devices as well as software solutions (The Zoll Medical Corporation, 2012). The organization plays a primary role in helping leaders to respond, manage, treat, in addition to, save lives whenever emergencies arise in hospital or private settings such as homes or workplaces. Other places include: battlefields, schools and public places. Thus, the organization focuses on contributing towards caring for patients through saving lives. Moreover, the organization pays attention to the enhancement of efficiency of healthcare delivery by focusing on hospital operations, medical facilities and fire incidences across the globe.

The organization plays a significant role in advocating for the safety and security of patients. In the organization, meetings are held twice a month. The day of the meeting was held was on Tuesday February 5, 2013 at South Seminole Hospital, Board Room 555. The meeting I attended commenced early in the morning hours. On arrival, the chapter president welcomd everybody and requested that each person signs the attendance sheet.

After taking the seats, the previous minutes were passed around. Thus, the welcoming manner proved to be friendly to both the visitors and members. As outlined in the agenda, the meeting began on time. The chairperson took to the floor to extend an official welcome to each attendee. The president also took some time to introduce the organization’s officials.

Every member was allotted time to share their views on the agenda. In attendance, there were 22 people. The main speaker at the meeting focused on addressing the issue of the Zoll LifeVest. In the second part, aspects of safety and security took centre stage. The focal point was the Emergency Triage area. The presenter, Kathy B used a power-presentation to effortlessly underscore the points as prescribed in the organization’s agenda.

A major attribute of the meeting were the education in-services. The information was provided by one main source, the presenter Kathy B. She used a power-point to show some of the dangerous weapons and drugs that are found on ER pt. Further she used pictures to discuss the role that security officers play in addition to the responsibilities they have in protecting the medical facilities. She also focused on many different safety protocols.

The LifeVest, a wearable defibrillator, was among the tools which dominated the presentation although a number of issues were under review as already observed. The vest is worn by patients who are at a risk of suffering from sudden cardiac arrests. The tools are designed to offer protection to patients when they experience unanticipated changes in their health. The equipment is specifically useful whenever the condition of sudden cardiac arrest is yet to be established. The LifeVest is critical since it allows a physician to have enough time to assess the long-term arrhythmic risk of the patient in order to make appropriate plans regarding how to handle the victim. The most notable strength of the LifeVeest rests on its ease to wear, an aspect that allows patients to go back to their daily activities while retaining the knowledge that they are safe from experiencing sudden cardiac arrest.

The LifeVest always monitors the state of a patient’s heartbeat to facilitate the detection of whether there is a danger. The LifeVest delivers treatment to a patient whenever, a heart-threatening heartbeat is detected, paving the way for the restoration of normalcy. The significance of the LifeVest does not end at that point as Kathy observed. This is because it is also applicable to a wide range of conditions surrounding heart attacks. Such extends to possible attacks related to stent placement or/and before or after bypass surgery. The same vest is also useful to patients who suffer from congestive heart failure or cardiomyopathy which expose such victims to severe risks.

The value of the LifeVest is more pronounced owing to the fact that it is widely covered by a bigger percentage of health arrangements in the United States such as the State, Federal and commercial plans. The meeting was carried out in a proper manner. The plan of the agenda was respected. The chairperson came out as a transformational leader, an aspect that manifested itself throughout the meeting. There were no concerns that arose when the presenter went about the main discussion isues.

Upon the conclusion of the presentation, the president adjourned the meeting. Conclusion The members used the meeting to understand about the ZollVest which is critical in patient safety. Moreover, matters of overall safety dominated the agenda. This was clear based on the main presentation. The information shared was refreshing and informative for many people.

This organizational meeting was a representation of a dynamic group of individuals sharing on matters of patient safety. In conclusion, the meeting was enjoyable based on the experience that I have in attending meetings as well as handling professional matters.
