Should school uniforms be enforced?
Should school uniforms be enforced? Back-to-school shopping is widely known around the world and is dreaded by many. It gets more and more expensive every year. With the economy the way it is, it makes it harder and harder for families each year.
There has got to be a change soon! Along with how expensive back-to-school shopping is, is the bullying in school based off of what people wear. This is becoming a major problem in schools today. “One out of every 7 students in grades K-12 are either a bully or a victim of bullying,” According to makebeatsnotbeatdowns A very helpful solution being discussed at schools around the world is if school uniforms should be required to be worn by students and staff members. Based off of the schools that have enforced school uniforms, it has been a major success. It has cut back the spending that families are normally used to spending on their children’s attire to fit the schools dress code. With schools requiring school uniforms, all students wear the same thing and they do not have to go out of their way just to buy something they do not like in order to meet the dress code.
Families that do not have the money to provide a uniform for their child can receive some help from the school to get them one. Another problem in schools today is the bullying and violence occurring because of appearance. With students choosing their own wardrobe for school it forms cliques and makes bullying worse for those students who do not have the money to purchase the latest “trends” being worn. “With school uniforms being required by everyone it would eliminate this type of action.” According to Charleston Catholic High School. A benefit from having school uniforms is the amount of security and safety it provides the students with.
Having everyone wear the same attire allows people to pinpoint when someone not a student or staff member enters into the school. It is much easier to notice someone not being where they belong when they are dressed differently than everyone else. With schools requiring uniforms it gives the school a professional environment look. It gets students ready for the workforce world, which mostly required some sort of uniform or dress code. Students who wear uniforms during the week do not need a lot of leisure clothes, so it will lower clothing cost. Overall, school uniforms will make a dramatic positive effect on everyone in many ways.
It is time to make students realize how beneficial they will be!
