0 INTRODUCTION Students of UiTM Kota Bharu Campus are mostly from different states all over Malaysia such as Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bharu, Terengganu, Pahang, as well as Kelantan. Subsequently, they come from different social-status; thus their financial management is varied according to their social lifestyle. Most of UiTM Kota Bharu Campus students’ free time is on weekends, and they will usually spend most of their free time to settle assignments and such. The sleeping and eating habits of each student may also vary based on their lifestyle.

While time spent at college is a fond memory and a happy experience for most, college life is not without its rough patches and problems. While each person problems unique to their current circumstances, there are a few problems that almost all college students deal with at least once during their time at school.

3. 1 Background Information According to an online source, (UiTM Kampus Kota Bharu, 2011): City Campus is the brainchild of the Minister of Higher Education Malaysia, Dato ‘Seri Vice Chancellor and the Campus Director to increase the number of students in UiTM, UiTM Kelantan in particular. It is in line with the government plan so hat UiTM can accommodate 20,000 students in the near future. Accordingly, the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia has agreed to approve the additional allocation of RM10 million for the establishment of this City Campus. The establishment of UiTM City Campus has been announced by the Minister of Higher Education, YB Dato ‘Mustapa Mohamad on October 18, 2006 and the first session of study began in July 2007.

The establishment of the City Campus has taken into consideration several criteria among which include locating it in the urban areas of Kota Bharu and its strategic purpose for image enhancement.

Following the announcement, City Campus Establishment of a Committee chaired by the Director of Campus was established. The Committee comprises of the heads of division and unit in UiTM Kelantan. Wisma KUB has 4 floors with total floor area of ?? 24,522. 75 square feet was chosen as the temporary campus of UiTM City Campus which was officially named Universiti Teknologi MARA Kelantan, Kota Bharu Campus. In 2008, during the Executive Committee Meeting, University Technology Malaysia subsequently approved the rental of 2 blocks with 3 floors accumulating to the total floor area of ?? 9.

200 square feet are already in operation in July 2009. 3. 2 Problem Statement The lifestyle incorporated by students’ of UiTM Kota Bharu Campus is unbecoming of university students. Choosing the right lifestyle is vital for a university student to live a fulfilling life experience as well as achieving optimal academic performance. According to an article by Garfield Gates in 2010, “10 common problem students face during college are study, money, job, homesickness, depression, health condition, friends or roommates, partying, relationships and choosing a major”.

According to Laura, (Laura P. Womble, 2001): College students have many obstacles to overcome in order to achieve their optimal academic performance. It takes a lot more than just studying to achieve a successful college career. Different stressors such as time management, financial problems, sleep deprivation, social activities, and for some students even having children, can all pose their own threat to a student’s academic performance. According to Hammer et al.

(as cited in Laura P. Womble, 2001,): The amount of exercise, nutritional routines, and lso the amount of social support the student perceives all can contribute to how a student academically performs. Exercising too much or not at all can influence academic performance. Taking time out of frequent study hours to work out pulls away from grades. A frequent occurrence on college campuses is students becoming almost addicted to exercise, turning a healthy behavior into one that is psychologically unhealthy.

(p1) In a study in 2000 Troikel, Bames, and Egget (as cited in Laura P.

Womble, 2001, p2) found “That students who exercised seven or more hours a week obtained significantly lower grades than students who exercised six or fewer hours weekly or not at all” Nutrition is also a problem with college students. Students may have difficulty finding the time to cook adequate meals. Most students are just learning to live on their own, and learning to cook can prove to be a challenge. Finding time to go to the grocery store once every couple of weeks can be a demanding task.

Little storage space is available in the average dorm room, and food storage may not be possible at all (Trockel et al, 2000).

Choosing the most suitable lifestyle can also help reduce if not totally eliminate stress factors that may lead to psychological problems as cases of severe depression among college students have become more common over the last decade, according to a new study that backs up what mental health professionals at university counseling centers have been saying for years. Students have also become increasingly impulsive, more often attempt to injure themselves, and more likely to be diagnosed with more than one mental disorder. (Rachel Ratner, 2010) 3. 3 Objectives
