My Future Narrative Essay
My Future What if they told you that you had to decide the career that you will be doing for the rest of your life right now? Most of you wouldn’t know what to say. I’m scared of the fact that in only two years my mind has to be made up. I cannot just think of one career that I must do for the rest of my life. I have to decide quickly in order to pick the correct college where I can study in the near future and pursue my happiness. Yet, two years is too long to decide what career because you have to start thinking ahead what classes you want to take to be prepared for college.
Therefore, I am starting now to think about what I can do once I get older. I have already taken two psychometric tests to help me decide a good career by my likings and personality traits, but even with that help, I still can’t figure it out. I am lost in the endless sea of thousands of careers. I vaguely know a few occupations in the enormously long list. There are tons of job positions I can work in, which makes it especially hard for me to decide. There is so much pressure into picking the correct career and job, making my decision very hard.
There are many things I have to think about when choosing my future job: Will I like it for a long time? Does it pay well? Will it be a hobby more than a job? Will I enjoy waking up every morning and going to my job? Can I raise a family while doing it? Will I prosper doing it? Making this life-decision has been extremely hard for me and who knows how much longer it is going to take me to decide. Slowly, I have narrowed my list down to several professions. There are several things I would like to do such as being a detective, a real estate agent, an entrepreneur, or a chief executive. More specific, I would like to be in charge of my own company, having a big detective position, or working for HGTV as a realtor. Over the course of the last month or so, I have come to the conclusion of going into the real estate business.
I decided that it would be a good choice for me because it’s something I enjoy to watch on TV. I also like to look at new houses while being given a tour inside. Basically, I would like to do just that. I want to help other people find a suitable home to raise a family. To do that I would become someone’s realtor, learn about their tastes, and gradually find the perfect home. Working in this branch sparks my curiosity very much.
When I go through the questions listed above, it positively answers most of them. In the long run, I see myself prospering as a real estate agent working in my own company. Hopefully, which ever profession I end up permanently choosing will bring me happiness.
