Robotics?
There are Robotic programs all over the world.
They are supported by a national program FRC (First Robotics Center), they host competitions where Robotic teams travel to compete and to show off their lastest robot. I am in the Robotics program at South Caldwell High School. We are the FRC team 3402. Many of you are saying “What in the world is FRC?” Well What is US FIRST (FRC)? FIRST is a non-profit organization devoted to helping young people discover and develop a passion for science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Founded nearly 20 years ago by inventor Dean Kamen, with 28 teams, the 2008-2009 season attracted over 196,000 students and over 85,000 mentors, coaches, and volunteers from 51 countries. The annual programs culminate in an international robotics competition and celebration where teams win recognition, gain self-confidence, develop people and life skills, make new friends, and perhaps discover an unforeseen career path.
In short, FIRST is the varsity spot of the mind. The FIRST Philosophy Gracious Professionalism: Gracious Professionalism is part of the ethos of FIRST. It’s a way of doing things that encourages high-quality work, emphasizes the value of others, and respects individuals and the community. With Gracious professionalism, fierce competition and mutual gain are not separate notions. Gracious Professionals learn and compete like crazy, but treat one another with respect and kindness in the process. Coopertition®: Coopertition means competing always, but assisting and enabling others when you can, this is expected of participants in any FIRST event.
All you have to do is go to the US First website to see all the programs avaliable. Hope you enjoy Robotics.
