How Bullying Effects lives

Bullying is a big problem that affects students all over the world.

43% of students have been bullied while online. As many as 160,000 students stay home on any given day because they are afraid of being bullied. Many students, even some adults feel alone, hopeless, weak, and afraid. From past experiences and witnessing first hand what bullying does to people, this is a problem that needs some attention. I have been a victim of bullying, and I know how it feels. Middle school was the worst years of bullying that I have ever endured because on the buses and on my way home from school there was all these high schoolers involved in the drama.

On top of the my peers giving me crap about everything I also had high schoolers adding onto it. To them we were just little kids who think that we are so cool. Also, people were trying to be cool and popular. Also at this time point I was even more insecure about my family life because my parents were getting a divorce. On the bus they would yell names at me, most not worth repeating.

Another situation, some of the other students gave my cell phone number to the high schoolers and I would get prank called everyday after school and I would be told the same things over and over. Occasionally I would get a visit from some students or they would go to my friends house to “hang out” with us, but for me it was just a time that I felt more insecure once again. Some more recent things from around last year around the time of April I moved into an apartment with my mom and my younger brother. The bus rides were even worse than the other bus. People were always making fun of me, crumbling up pieces of paper and throw them at me, they would also throw rocks at me, and a few times they would follow me to my apartment and call me names.

For the longest time I would be terrified to just take a step out of my front door. In another case I also had a friend Allison, she was bullied as well. I met her one day when I was crying because of all the horrible things that had been said to me she told me that they were lying and they didn’t know what they were talking about. She told me once that she had been bullied too because people thought she was goth in elementary school because she wore a choke necklace everyday. It got worse for her as time went on, but she never did anything about it. She held it in till she couldn’t take it anymore.

September 26, 2013, she decided to take her own life. One of the girls from school had made fun of her and called her a sl** and a bi*** and because she was depressed; as if she she could do anything about it. She couldn’t control it. Alison felt as though the only solution to end the bullying was to take her own life. That is one way that bullying can affect people in your community. Writers from Stomp Out Bullying explains common reasons why a person will become a bully or show traits of a bully.

“A common reason that a kid is a bully is because he/she lacks attention from a parent at home and lashes out at others for attention. Kids usually bully because they learn this behavior at home. It is learned behavior.” I believe that one reason they bully is because the are insecure of themselves. , so i In order to make them feel superior, they put others down. Another reason kids become bullies is because they were bullied when they were younger, so to them they are “getting back at them” or in other words revenge.

Also in most cases kids just want to “fit in” or because someone told them to because if they want to be apart of the group they have to tell sally over there that her hair is stupid. In conclusion, bullying is major issue that affects everyone in one way or another. I suggest that we as a community come together and work together to put this to an end. If everyone would be a bit more considerate of others feelings, simply just smiling at someone can go a long way. If you ever find yourself in a position that you or someone else is being bullied you should and need to report it. One thing I wish I could go back and do would be to have told someone what was going on and find ways to stop it.

Also staying out of the drama the other students are creating will protect not only you but other student from getting hurt.
